Mark Mestemacher is an individual who has not only witnessed the loss of friends and co-workers to cancer, but also feels personally called to do something about the disease. He believes that cancer research is not moving fast enough to find the cure that is so desperately needed. It was mid-2012 when he solicited the support of his company, Ceres Barge Line, to join him in creating awareness and funds to advance cancer research. That creation evolved into what is now known as the big, bright pink barge, named BIG HOPE 1, traveling throughout the U.S. waterways and drawing attention to the cause for others to get on board! Fundraising events are orchestrated at various ports and to welcome BIG HOPE 1. Mary Crowley Cancer Research is privileged to be the current recipient of BIG HOPE 1 funds, where all donations are directed to patients in need of a cutting edge personalized cancer therapy.
